YEAR 1

SECTION 1:  EVIDENCE OF SATISFYING CONDITIONS FOR STARTING THE PROGRAMME

By end of induction

Evidence you meet all course entry requirements, i.e.

  • Copy of relevant qualification certificates in your specialist area (minimum level 3) - In exceptional circumstances, if these are not available, letters from past employers confirming your expertise (if agreed with course manager and award leader)
  • Evidence which confirms your literacy competence is at Level 2.
  • Evidence of registration with Bath Spa
    • Confirmation from the Bath Spa Student Portal of your registration being complete
    • Your Bath Spa IT account details (username and password)
    • A copy of your ASSOCiate Online account details (username and password)
    • Evidence of financial support
  • A copy of the letter from your local authority / Student Loan Company confirming your financial support for tuition fees and / or a maintenance grant.
  • If you or your employer are paying for the course, a copy of the letter from them confirming how they will pay

SECTION 2 - EVIDENCE OF SATISFACTORY PROGRESS THROUGH PROGRAMME

Assessment Feedback

  • Feedback sheets on all assessment activities for modules LL 1201, 2, 3 and 4 when available.
  • Summative assessment record - This should be signed by the Course Manager of the Partner College, to confirm that all parts of the year have been completed.

  • Initial assessment results for Language and Literacy, Numeracy and learning styles
  • Self assessment of Practical Teaching and ICT

SECTION 4 - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT JOURNAL

SECTION 5 – MENTORING EVIDENCE

At the end of Modules LL1201, 2, 3, 4

  • A copy of a completed / updated Mentor Record, provided by your Mentor (by end of LL1201)
  • A copy of your Mentoring Log, completed and agreed by you and your mentor at least three times per year
  • Other documents you wish to add

SECTION 6 – OTHER SUPPLEMENTARY ITEMS RELATING TO YOUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

SECTION 7:  BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR YOUR PRACTICAL TEACHING

By end Module LL1201

  • The completed Practical Teaching Arrangements proforma
  • The Practical Teaching Log, showing evidence that you have started recording your teaching.
  • A brief introduction to you and your teaching, indicating:

The range of subjects/courses/qualifications you teach on

The range of levels you teach

The age ranges of your learners

By end module LL1202

  • Evidence in your Practical Teaching Log of about 40 hours of teaching

By end module LL1203

SECTION SHOULD BE COMPLETE

Evidence in your Practical Teaching Log of at least 80 hours of teaching

SECTION 8:  FEATURED TEACHING GROUP (S)

By end of Module LL1201

  • Group description
  • Background information to the learning group you are featuring in the file including:
    • age range, entry requirements, previous experience and learning about the subject, range of LLN & ICT abilities, range of cultural backgrounds, behavioural expectations of learners in your organization, etc + any other information you consider relevant and wish to include
  • Added information for added groups featured.
  • Evidence of your use of initial assessment to include:
    • Initial assessment tool used (e.g. short description, copy or screen shot)
    • Summary of results
    • Any other documents you believe it is relevant to include

By end of module LL1203

SECTION SHOULD BE COMPLETE

SECTION 9:  PLANNING AND TEACHING

By the end of Module LL1201

  • A scheme of work you have written (for at least the first term of your teaching)
  • Syllabus/programme specification from awarding body or other relevant documentation
  • At least three session plans, using the required session plans format (see example plan and notes), with full evaluations.  Each plan must identify:
    • The aims and learning outcomes/objectives for the session
    • The sequencing / timing / management of the session.
    • Teacher activity and student activity
    • learning activities (content) and how they will be sequenced and managed in the overall session structure
    • Embedding of Equality and Diversity
    • Embedding of Every Child Matters (where required)
    • Planning for differentiation
    • The learning resources required
    • How formal and informal assessment is carried out
    • How relevant Key / LLN / Functional and ICT Skills have been included

Note 1:  Each of these three session plans must include copies of the resources used and a full evaluation

Note 2:  Two of these sessions must be observed, one by your Tutor and one by your Mentor.  You should include the feedback sheet from your observer.  All observed sessions must be clearly identified (e.g. by tagging)

By the end of module LL1202

  • scheme of work showing development as a working document.
  • At least three more session plans (using your own organizational format), with full evaluations and including all resources used in the sessions.

Note 1:  At least one further session should be observed by your tutor during this module. Include the feedback sheet from your observer, and ensure that the observed session is clearly identified (e.g. by tagging)

By the end of module LL1203

SECTION SHOULD BE COMPLETE AND IN PARTICULAR

  • Scheme of work for at least 20 hours showing development as a working document across the year.
  • Further session plans, including the resources used, with full evaluations. (There need to be at least 30 hours of session plans, including a minimum of 9 session plans – three per term)

Note 1:  At least one further session should be observed by your tutor during this module (making a total of three tutor observations). Include the feedback sheet from your observer, and ensure that the observed session is clearly identified (eg by tagging)

  • Evidence of second specialist area observation by mentor to include session plan, relevant resources, your self evaluation and tutor feedback.

SECTION 10: COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE

By end of Module LL1203

Communities of Practice are groups of people (teachers in this case) who share a passion for what they do, and who want to share their knowledge and experience with each other, in order to learn how to do it better.

  • ASSOCiate Online Community registration and evaluation
  • ASSOCiate Online Community ‘find a buddy’ evidence

SECTION 11:  ASSESSMENT

By end Module LL1202

  • Assessment documentation provided by your awarding body which explains the assessment methods, approaches, rules, scheduling and weighting which should be used (sometimes called the ‘assessment scheme’)
  • At least two examples of assessments (formative or summative) completed with your learners and your written feedback on those assessments, using an appropriate feedback sheet
  • A set of your assessment tracking documents including completed documentation for at least two learners

SECTION 12: OTHER SUPPLEMENTARY ITEMS RELATING TO YOUR PRACTICAL TEACHING
